The Caterpillar D7 is a medium-sized high-drive crawler dozer with a fully automatic 4-speed transmission. The current production model features a more powerful engine and a larger blade compared to its predecessors, the D7E and D7R.

• Performance: The modern D7 is engineered for high productivity, moving up to 8% more material per hour than the D7E. This is achieved through a combination of increased weight and horsepower, larger blades, and a fully automatic 4-speed transmission. It also delivers improved fuel efficiency, being up to 8% more efficient than the D7R.
• Engine and drivetrain: It is powered by a Cat C9.3B engine that produces 265 horsepower. The fully automatic 4-speed powershift transmission smoothly delivers power to the ground, optimizing performance and fuel efficiency without requiring continuous operator input.
• High-drive undercarriage: The elevated sprocket design offers several benefits, including a smoother ride, better balance, increased penetration force for the blade, and reduced shock loads on major components.
• Operator comfort: The cab is redesigned to be more spacious and ergonomic, featuring a 10-inch touchscreen display for machine functions, an adjustable air suspension seat, and a standard high-definition rear-view camera.
